Frequently asked questions
Version 1 · Updated 9/23/2026
Q: Is TaxOnMe the IRS or a CPA firm?
No. TaxOnMe is a tax assistant that explains your situation and guides your next steps in plain English. For high-stakes decisions we connect you with licensed professionals.
Q: How do I get my IRS transcript?
Fastest: create an IRS online account at irs.gov/your-account — transcripts download instantly. By mail takes about 10 days. We also have a guided Form 4506-T under IRS forms.
Q: What happens to documents I upload?
They're stored in your private vault. Only you can see them — and a consultant only after you explicitly approve the connection. You can delete files or your whole account anytime.
Q: How does the analysis work?
We start from what you told us and any documents you add. Depth grows with evidence: first we clarify your Situation, then we verify amounts against IRS reference material when documents support it. Unsupported modules stay empty — we never invent a full resolution plan from thin intake alone.
Q: How do payment plans with the IRS work?
Confirm what you owe on an Account Transcript (or the printed amount on your notice) before choosing a monthly amount. Some balances may qualify for an online installment agreement; others need a paper request. Eligibility and monthly minimums depend on your account facts and current IRS rules — we do not treat any single dollar figure as universal. Our Form 9465 wizard helps you prepare a request for review; it is not an IRS approval.
Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
Plan & billing → Cancel subscription. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
Q: Something in the app isn't working.
Open a tech support ticket under Support tickets (or ask the guide chatbot to create one) and our team will fix it.
